Sölden/Soelden brings to life all the expectations of what a ski holiday should be but also, an unique summer destination full of adventure and relax at the same time.  It is the world-famous winter sports resort in Austria which features 150 km of pistes and two glacier skiing areas for skiing pleasure and summer activities. The Ötztal valley play host to adventurers from across the globe so we decided to stay a couple of days to finish our roadtrip around Italy, Switzerland and Austria.

We checked in to hotel DAS CENTRAL – ALPINE . LUXURY . LIFE. which is the perfect definition of Alpine Luxury. Nothing is too far away in Sölden, but the hotel is ideally located a 500m from the main lifts even though the provide transfer from to. It is a top address for sports enthusiasts, for those in search of relaxation and for people who crave an open and informal atmosphere but who also appreciates luxury and culinary delights. (Aka the perfect definition of @oneofmagazine spirit and lifestyle)

Das central is a five stars hotel with a world-class service where every little detail truly captures your mind, body and soul.

The hotel has a lot of story. Built 40 years ago has been renovated with Alpine modern luxury. As soon as you step into the hotel you are enchanted by its unique flair and homie feeling. We were welcoming with a cold tea and a refreshment towel. Once in our suite, we were delighted with a massive plate of tropical fruits and homemade chocolates. We went to explore the surroundings on a brand new convertible BMW provided by the hotel.

It offers 99 rooms und 26 suites. They are furnished in the most varied styles. You can choose between elegant Provencal and English country house style, modern design or rustic Tyrolean ambience. In selected suites there are refinements like open fires, glass bath tubs and bamboo floors. We stayed in a enormous Junior Suite with 2 bathroom, a big balcony, a living room with a sofa bed included. There is also a living space at the main bedroom with another sofa bed. There is a new, 200 m2 large and luxurious Presidential Suite in chalet-style with private whirlpool, sauna and steam bath plus own fitness area.

As a world traveler and gourmet globetrotter when a hotel offers a fine dinning option like the best restaurants in the world, that is kill two birds with one stone. Breakfast every morning at DAS CENTRAL is a gourmet feast spread filled with everything your heart could seedier, including a whole corner dedicated to organic and locally sourced produce. Not to mention that every night is special at the award-winning restaurant offering a five-course gourmet menu. I totally recommend to book your stay with half-board and enjoy the exquisite cuisine at Das central. Dinner will really have you day dreaming. They surprised us with a gala dinner the second night.

On our first night, we meet sommelier Marcel, and we were delighted with a tour to the old Das Central cellar including a glass of a very old sweet Austrian wine. Once per week a wine tasting dinner is going on downstairs. A fondue evening on a more intimate and austrian inspired room next to the cellar. During Winter season 3 times per week.

Das Central is the name behind the exclusive PINO3000. It is Das Central’s own blended wine which combines the best grapes from Austria, Germany and Italy. In 2011, two oak barrels of the best Pinot Noir from each of these 3 countries, were brought together and then matured in Sölden at an altitude of 30.48m, on the summit of the Gaislachkogl glacier. Here, at the ice Q Restaurant, there is a purpose built wine cellar where the Pino 300 matures in even, cool temperatures. At this altitude it is unaffected by the season, allowing its fruitiness to develop, and sommeliers and wine experts seem to agree that at an altitude of over 3000 meters the wine tastes even better.

After all these delicatessens, we had to do something. Every morning, I found myself jumping out of bed straight to the 120m2 fitness centre, before indulge myself again at Breakfast.

The fitness centre is full equipped. Fitness and sport enthusiasts like me, will love it. They offer classes every day from yoga clases to HIIT circuits at the gym. A Personal Fitness assessment or personal training are availably to book.

As I mentioned before, Sölden is a popular summer destination for adventurers. Once we checked in, we were honored with 2 ÖTZTAL PREMIUM CARDS that includes free use of cable cars & lifts in the valley. The water world, the water are in area 47 (we got a VIP pass for this) and a lot more of cool activities to do.

With all these activities for a non-stop stay, don’t forget the extensive wellness centre of 1.500 m2 SPA area with the 3-storey Venezia water world with 10 different saunas. Beauty and wellness residence with 16 different treatment rooms and the vast list of spa and beauty treatments that are on offer. I treated myself with a Alpine Athlete massage.

Conference facilities are available as well for up to 120 people.
