After spending 2 wonderful nights at The Siam, we can say that it is one of the Asia’s most interesting luxury hotels.
You all know we like to discover unique hotels. We avoid the big chain hotels as much as we can. We like hotels with personality, with a story to tell and a clear example is The Siam hotel in Bangkok.
It was our hotel’s choice to spend few more days in Thailand after our barefoot luxury experience in Soneva Kiri, located on a island in the Gulf of Siam. We thought that after experience Soneva Kiri, it would be difficult to get surprised but guess what? We were absolutely wrong. We could say that The Siam has been the most beautiful and unique hotel we have ever been to.
Located along the River of Kings, nestled amongst Bangkok’s historical palaces, temples and museums, The Siam offers easy access to the main historical attraction of the city by hopping on the hotel’s river boat.
The Siam is like a big house full of history. Everywhere in the Siam, there’s a story. It was designed by Bill Bensley, an internationally renowned landscape designer based in Bangkok. Since graduating from the Harvard School of Design in 1984, Bensley, has been designing some of the worlds most iconic hotels , resorts, spas, homes and sometimes even palaces.
It is an exquisite and one of a kind heritage-style luxury hotel that seamlessly marries classic Thai influences with Art Deco aesthetics.
Every area of the hotel is decorated with stunning antiques. It seems like you are in a home of an antique collector.
The harmonious combination of the classic Thai and Art Deco aesthetics creates a magical atmosphere that transform this hotel in a complete urban sanctuary.
The silent marble corridors around a central courtyard glass with incredible vegetation, the great natural light, the beautiful gardens, the water fountains with the sound of the water flows… is BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL!
The urban resort opened five years ago and it offers 39-suites-and-villas.
Upon arrival we were escorted to our pool villa through the beautiful gardens.
When we stepped first into the lush private courtyard, we were in awe but when we past the intimate pool before retreating into a stunningly decorated bedroom and we found the outrageously opulent bathroom, then is when we actually were speechless.
We checked-out in the comfort of our villa, as our personal Butler took care of everything. Our luggage where already in the taxi before we could even arrived to the main door.
We spent most of our time chilling next to the 23 meter-long pool by the river or nestled in our 2 story-villa.
The Siam hosts the grandiose Opium Spa, and a well-equipped gym that offers yoga, meditation and Muay Thai Boxing sessions. The gym is occasionally used by members of Thailand’s royal family. It counts with a library and a movie theatre.
Among all the services and activities available at this urban resort, there is one thing that we enjoyed the most, breakfast every morning by the river at the the hotel’s restaurant. The setting is magnificent providing a complete sense of serenity.
The Siam offers culinary experiences like no other with 5 different venues:
- Chon – Signature Thai restaurant and Cooking school
- Deco Bar & Bistro – Western cuisine with jazzy atmosphere
- Café Cha – All day patisserie with traditional afternoon tea service
- Bathers Bar – Poolside outlet swerving light bites and beverages
- Sunset Cruise
- Private sunset cocktails or dinner cruise aboard our golden teak rice barge
We can’t wait to go back to The Siam and stay longer to enjoy everything this one-of-a-kind hotel has to offer.
