The Zongo Falls are the second most famous tourist destination of the Democratic Republic of Congo and a great attraction to get out of the hustle and bustle of Kinshasa.
The Zongo Falls are located in Bas-Congo at 130 km from Kinshasa. Although, it seems not too far to do a day trip, taking into account the traffic jumps in DR Congo, the trip can be a bit exhausting and as long as 6 hours so we totally recommend to stay over at least one night. In fact, the total experience of Zongo Falls is staying at the Seli Safari Resort. The trip is well worth it.
Seli Safari is the only resort next to the falls. When you think of Zongo Falls, you think on Seli Safari Resort. The Resort offers different types of accommodation, from simple but adventurous tents, wooden chalets to luxury villas by the bank of the river.
The Zongo Falls
They are absolutely amazing, breathtaking and really easy to access from the resort. No doubt they are a God’s beautiful creation. They are truly majestic. The spray from the falls creates a cloud-like mist that actually shower and refreshes you inside a rainbow. When you stand in from of it you think this is can only be a gift from God. A natural beauty with a phenomenal legendary and mythical “Pluies Eternelles”. Once there, shout out loud “Zongo” and be taken back as the falls bless you with a shower like no other. Literally, you would get a full shower. But only those who come will know.

- Seli Beach on the bank of the Congo River is an absolute must! Make sure to book a full experience and have a BBQ on the beach after the trekking and the swim in the Mali’s Fall (The Seli Safari Resort Natural Spa) Take a natural and free massage shower on the stone at the foot of the Mali’s fall. If you continue the way up, you will discover the Mavetti, Mayele and Makasi’s wonder fall. It is one of the most stunning places I’ve ever been. The untouched beauty of nature under the jungle sun make this experience even more unforgatable. One of the best things is that you will probably be alone. No like any other high tourist destinations around the world. This makes the experience far more unique.
How to arrive
By car from Kinshasa about 3 to 5 hours (depending on the traffic) Driving from Kinshasa on the Matadi road and then up to Zongo Falls by the Kisantu dirt road. We recommend to drive 4×4 car to reach Zongo Falls. The Sona Bata road is damaged and non-maintained.
